Film Noir

Updated: Apr 19, 2020

This image was taken in a small, cramped bedroom that had a minimal amount of space to move around in. This was due COVID 19 closing our Georgian College site, which cut off our use of the equipment and studio. Due to the self-isolation requirements that were put in place by the World Health Organization, I was not able to use the model that I had originally intended to use, so my dad bravely stepped up to model for this film noir image. My original intention was to shoot this project in a dark alley in Barrie, Ontario, but I had to work around the pandemic that has been impacting the world for months. Overall, I am happy with how this photoshoot turned out. I was finally able to break out the lights that I bought before coming to college in 2017, but never seemed to use in the 3 years that I have had them! Down the road, I would certainly consider shooting more photos in the film noir style. I love the harsh, contrasty light that comes with this time era and genre of photography.
