Coming of Age:
There is a first time for every important milestone in our lives, such as the first time you went on a date, the first time that you drove a car, and the first time that you were intimate with another person.
These are the moments that change your life and create who you are as a person. The nervous excitement that you felt building up to these life events made you question if you should take the risk, but in the end, you decide to do what you know you are ready to do.
You are ready to break through the barrier that held you back for years because you are ready: there is no pressure from anyone else- this is solely your choice and decision to make.
The Power in Truth and Lies:
People in positions of authority take advantage of the vulnerable in society: they feed on the power that they hold over others and will do anything for it to remain that way. The position of authority does not have to be a priest and kid, it could be a caregiver and child, caregiver and elderly parent, or even a boss and subordinate.
The point is that those who are least able to defend themselves and take a stand are the ones who are taken advantage of by those who carry the most power (in the church, politics, workplace, etc), and worst of all is how these authority figures don’t get called out for abusing their position.
Love and Sacrifice:
A mother’s love is something that can stand the test of time: it may waver, and it may shake, but it will never crumble in defeat. The sacrifices that a mother makes for her child are unbeaten: it is with the deepest and most sincere love that she gives up her dreams and passes them along to her child.
It is an unselfish and unending love and strength that pushes her to live for the infant that she carried in her womb for 9 months.
A mother will give up everything if it meant that her child would live a better life, so thank your mother today for giving you her all so that you to could have the childhood that she could only dream of.
Convention and Rebellion:
Society dictates what is socially acceptable and what should be kept under wraps: and unfortunately, sexuality is still something that society needs to learn how to fully embrace.
It takes a lot for those who come out to their family and friends to fully embrace who they are, be confident in themselves, and be willing to risk it all when they confide their sexual orientation to their loved ones: it is often the biggest test of love and acceptance that one could take.
People judge others no matter what, so be proud of who you are and the way that you dress- because, it is your life and your happiness that counts.
